Where is Daufuskie Island?

Daufuskie Island is a bridgeless, barrier island located between Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA

How do I get to Daufuskie Island?

The easiest way to get to the island is by taking our private Haig Point ferry. The ferry departs from Haig Point Embarkation. The ferry is very punctual so please plan on being at the dock at least twenty minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to ensure time to collect your ferry pass from the Welcome Center. The ferry ride is approximately 30 minutes depending on tides.

Do I bring my car on the ferry?

No, the Haig Point private ferry is a passenger ferry only. Complimentary parking is available at Haig Point Embarkation.

What happens if I miss the ferry and can’t make it to Daufuskie by my scheduled ride time?

We are unable to provide refunds for rides that are cancelled due to missed ferry trips. However, if you do miss the boat for any reason, we are happy to try to reschedule your ride for a later time if we have the availability

How do I get to the Equestrian Center once I'm on the island?

Although Daufuskie Island is small, it is not a walkable island. Therefore, we encourage riders to spend the day or half-day on the island by renting a four or six-seater golf cart.

Do I have to wear a helmet on my ride?

Yes, helmets are provided and guests are required to wear helmets regardless of their previous riding experience. No exceptions.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, closed-toed shoes (boots, tennis shoes, etc) are required; no flip-flops, crocs, or sandals of any kind. For longer customized or advanced rides, proper riding gear (breeches, jeans, and riding boots) is required.

All guests are expected to dress accordingly when visiting the Club from the moment they arrive at Embarkation on Hilton Head or when arriving at the Haig Point community dock via private boat.

The Haig Point community is relaxed by nature, and therefore casual attire, including jeans and denim (without holes), is permitted within the community and on the ferries. Shoes must be worn at all times on the ferry and on property. Clothing should be neat and clean.

Riders are welcome to bring a change of clothes with them. We have changing and storage areas for bags.

Can my child ride on the horse with me?

No, double riding of any kind is prohibited, even for young children who are under our required age limit.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate riders younger than 12 years old regardless of their experience.
